3 Profitable Niche Blog Topics – Select A Blog Topic That Makes Money?

Share

You may just be getting starting within the world of blogging, or perhaps you have blogged before, but if you are considering starting a blog to earn money, then you are making a very wise decision!

Blogs have become a very lucrative piece of web property online because they have the highest return on your investment. This is because they require almost no investment to set one up, but can result in high profits.

Now, this all sounds great, but to ensure your success as a blogger, you have to make sure that you are getting into the right niche to begin with!

There are an infinite amount of niche topics that you could build a site around, but many of them won’t make you any money because they are too specific. For example, a site that focuses on glow in the dark shoes, won’t (I’d imagine?) get much traffic, therefore limiting its income potential. In contrast, a site that concentrates on women’s shoes, will be much more popular.

One of the most important things to remember when picking a niche, is that you must be interested in the subject. You could pick a great niche topic, with huge potential, but if you are not that interested in it, then you won’t put the work in that is needed.

Currently, there are three huge profitable niche topics online. These are; ‘Health & Fitness‘, ‘Relationships‘ and ‘Money & Finance‘.

Health & Fitness

Profitable Niche Blog Topic

This blog niche seems to be profitable no matter what time of year it is, the economic situation of the country, or how society and culture changes!

The health and fitness market is awash with narrow and targeted niches that you can focus on. Think about all of the different fields that fall under this category; diet, weight loss, exercise equipment, nutrition, etc.

Setting up a blog focused to answering some of the burning questions and needs people have with regards to their health and fitness level, would be very popular. After all, people will always be willing to pay in order to look and feel better. So a blog within this market is guaranteed to earn you money.

Relationships

Profitable Niche Blog Topic

Another niche that has always been highly profitable is within the market of relationship advice. This is a huge market that has many targeted niches within it that you could build a site around. This can include; romantic relationship advice, dating sites, parenting advice, professional working relationships, social media, etc.

Our lives and our happiness is so dependent on the relationships that we have with one another, there will always be money in helping people to connect with others and lead a more fulfilling live.

Money & Finance

Profitable Niche Blog Topic

The third and arguably most profitable blog niche is money and finances! Everyone is always looking to improve their finances, make more money, set up a business, debt advice, getting a job, etc.

This is the niche that this site is built around, because I enjoy helping people learn how they can set up their own site and make money from it, which provides me with a nice income for myself. You yourself are reading this very article, so I must be doing something right!

I hope this post has given you some ideas to create your own website.  If you have any questions or just want to share your opinions, then please leave a comment below.

Blogging on Health & Fitness‘, ‘Relationships‘ and ‘Money & Finance‘ these topics are very popular so this is best option to start a blog with any one of these if you want to make profit from your blog. I like this post so much, as recently I have started my blog and I have not added any one of these topics on it. This would be a great idea for me now.. Thanks for the tips Must be valuable for me…

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

These are three of the most profitable niches currently online, but they are very competitive. It’s not as simple as just picking one of these niches, you have to put in the hard work to make yourself stand out from the rest of the crowd. If you can do this, then you stand a very good chance of becoming successful online. Alternatively, it may be better to focus on a less competitive niche to focus on.

  • seo tips

I prefer niche blogging to micro niche sites. Thank you for the topic ideas.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

There are plenty of micro niche topics that you can focus on within these 3 broad topics. If you can find a niche that works for you, then you’ll be able to create a successful site. It’s just finding that balance between finding a topic that’s both popular and uncompetative!

I actually have a question about selecting a blog topic. Is it better to have one niche topic, or a generic blog that talks about anything? With my blog, I pretty much blog about anything that comes to mind – focusing on topics and events that happen around my life. I’m keen to learn of your thoughts on this. Hope to hear from you soon!

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

That’s a good question! It all depends on what you want to achieve with your blog.

If you blog as a hobby or for friends/family, then I don’t think you have to worry about selecting a niche.

If you are wanting to create a professional blog, attracting large numbers of visitors and earning money from it, then it’s very important to select a niche. Think about it, all these people won’t go to a site if they don’t know what topic you are going to write about.

So, think about what you want to achieve personally with your own blog. Only then can you decide whether you need to choose a niche or not.

Thank you so much for this article Matt, I am currently running a custom blog at blogger, but since I was not prepared with my niche when I started it, I want to create a new blog that is well-planned using a WordPress Pro! Reading this advice and tips of yours is really helpful for me to start new! Perhaps I can focus on Relationships >> Social Media.

    • http://www.simplifiedblogging.com/ Prime Aque

Anyway, I have created a new folder on my bookmark – Money Blogging Plan, and OnlineIncomeTeacher.com comes first, I am giving myself one month or so to invest a brand new blog using WordPress Pro!

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

Having your own self-hosted WordPress site is an excellent way to get yourself noticed online. Blogger is OK for amateur sites, but WordPress is the only place to go if you’re looking to create a professional site.

Planing out your niche is a vital part of your new site, as this determines what direction you want to take. If you are thinking about ‘Relationships’, then try to narrow it down a bit further to start with. You can always expand on it at a later date. Think about what types of relationships you want to focus on? Business, Romantic, Family, etc. Think about what sort of topics you could write about within that niche? Who is your target market? If you can answer these types of simple questions, then you will be able to create a site that you can make successful.

      Thanks for the comment!

Yes, it’s fine to make money on a site about random things. You won’t get in trouble.

The main issue that you will face is finding traffic. If you blog about lots of random unrelated things, then your readers won’t know what your site is about.

Equally, AdSense will find it harder to identify what your site is about. Therefore they will find it difficult to display targeted adverts that are related to your content. That’s why picking a niche is an important part of running your own site.

  • Hasan

    Hi Matt,
I always like the niche about
    “Health & Fitness”.
I am a new blogger. Plz tell me about this niche. How can i improve my blog traffic, content etc.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

Hi Hasan! Well I can’t say that I have much experience with this niche myself, but it’s definitely one of the more popular/profitable niches that you can work on.

A big decision to make is which aspect of this HUGE niche do you want to focus on? Do you want to blog about diet, losing weight, gaining muscle, etc. Concentrating on one specific aspect will allow you to grow a following easier, rather than try to blog about all things health & fitness.

Once you know what specific niche you want to focus on, you’ll find it easier to think of content to write about. Make sure to research your competition as well.

Hope that helps Hasan. Feel free to leave more questions and I’ll try to answer them for you.

  • Vanessa6910

There are too many blogs for these topics already. They are not sth new or unique.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

Hi Vanessa! These topics aren’t meant to be new or unique, they are simply good examples of topics to get involved with if you are wanting to make money.

You are right, there are many blogs within these niches, but that doesn’t mean that a site can’t compete. If anything, it shows that these niches are profitable as there is SO much competition. You just need to find a way to stand out from the others in order to make it successful.

Truly unique niches are hard to find these days, but not impossible. The most important aspect to consider is whether it has a viable target market. The fact that there aren’t any sites blogging about X niche may be because there aren’t enough people interested in it.

      • Vanessa6910

Thanks for being responsive, Matt Smith. I am trying a blog about the paranormal & I will tell you what happens there.

  • Kerrick’s Collectibles

I have found a niche and am ready to start blogging. I am not using your recommended topics due to high competition, but the basics are the same. Find something that people are interested in, and go for it.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

      Hi Kerrick,

Deciding upon your niche is probably one of the most important (if not THE most important) aspects of starting a site. So congratulations on deciding on one! Now you know what you are going to concentrate on and who your target audience is, which will make building your site much easier.

  • http://www.wisestep.com/ WiseStep

Finding a niche can be tricky, and it is one of the most important things that a blogger needs to do. I think that a niche should be based on passions, interests, and so on!!

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

I would totally agree with you there! I put this list together to give some ideas to people who want to start a blog to make money, but at the end of the day you need to be interested in what you are writing about, otherwise you won’t put in the necessary work.

Any niche can be successful really if you approach it the right way. The key is to find a good balance between a popular niche and a narrow niche. You don’t want to pick a niche that is far to wide that you don’t target anyone, but equally you don’t want a niche that is too narrow that only a handful of people will be interested. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right! :)

  • Rob Mann

Matt good stuff my friend. Finding a niche and refining a niche to a specific will benefit the author for communicate with a more direct audience, and the reader for developing a relationship with an author providing such rich content. Keep it up.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

      Hi Rob,

It helps to refine down a niche to try to help attract an audience. If a niche is too wide, you will struggle to nail down what your site is about. Too narrow and you won’t have an audience. It’s a fine balance that can have a key impact on your site’s success.

Hi, I’m going to be a new blogger as well. I have experience myself with bi polar disorder. I’m trying to figure out how to be a support system for people who struggle like me…and get paid also. Any ideas of how to go about this?

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

      Hi Kelly,

Great to hear that you are starting your own blog. I can’t say that I have any experience in that field, though I’d start by looking at the types of products (eBooks, books, courses, seminars, etc) that readers of your site would be interested in. Many will probably have some kind of affiliate program that you can join where you can earn money by recommending/advertising on your site.

If you start with affiliates and regular advertising whilst building up your site, you can look into other products that you could promote in the future. Perhaps you could even write your own book to sell on your site.

  • Brenaee

I would like to focus on health and fitness with my focus on people with diabetes. Any thoughts!!!!

  • Alan Dingwall

This is a great blog post Matt. I would say they money and finance niche and the Health and Fitness would be the most profitable though.

    • http://onlineincometeacher.com/ Matt Smith

      Hi Alan,

Yes, those two niches are pretty good ones to get into “IF” you can find a gap in the market. Like any business, you need to find something that will make you stand out from the crowd, otherwise you will get lost amongst all the other sites. That could be what you write about, the way you present your content/site r something as simple as your writing style.
