How-Can-Blogging-Help-Your-Website

Most of the people do not know that creating a website and decorating it with lots of stuff is not the only thing that you need to do if you wish to sustain it. Constant updates and changes are required in order to get your website up and running, and if you want your website to show up in the results of a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, you will have to fulfil a certain amount of requirements before a big search engine would index your website. Optimizing your pages to meet the needs and requirements of a search engine is known as search engine optimization. Search engine optimization constitutes of a variety of different techniques which webmasters employ to elevate the status of their website.

Your Website Reputation

Apart from search engine optimization, one of the best techniques that you can use in order to increase the reputation of your website is blogging. Blogging can really be the catalyst for the success of your website, but only if you know how to do it properly. There are some top blogs online which attract more than a million views per day, so it is easy to see that their ranking would be much higher as compared to some of the most popular websites. However, a blog that is website oriented needs to be carefully managed, and when writing new content for it, you need to make sure that it is in line with the content on your website, and that you are able to portray it properly.

However, nobody likes reading blogs that have an ‘advertising’ feel to them, so you have to make sure that the material on your blog varies on a consistent level. Talk about recent happenings and their consequences, give your own opinions but make sure that you are able to somehow relate them to your own website. Moreover, providing inbound links to your own web page can also be a great way of attracting the attention of popular search engines. The more inbound links that your page gets, the higher would its page ranking be. Hence, relating your website with the content on your blog is imperative, and you also need to provide links regarding this.

Stay In Touch With Your Readers

Blogging can be a great way to keep in touch with visitors to your page as well, and you can always ask them for suggestions and feedback. User feedback is extremely important because it helps you in modifying your website accordingly to make sure that it is able to attract more visitors. Users who visit your page can easily leave their comments in the comment section, allowing you to modify your page according to their demands. This can only work in the benefits of your online business or website, allowing you to make it even better. Not only this, but if your blog has been properly optimized according to search engines, you will also be able to attract visitors who search for related content. People who are redirected to your website will ultimately visit the links to your website.

Thanks for this Sarah. Some great info for newbies to the blogging world. I especially like the fact that it helps you to keep in contact with and get feedback from your readers.

    • Sarah did a great job writing this guest post for our site!

  • It depends on the site really. This site (OnlineIncomeTeacher) is primarily a blog, so I need to update it regularly to make sure my readers keep coming back, whilst attracting new visitors. That makes the blog crucial for the sites success.

Another example would be a website that promotes a service/product. A blog would help attract traffic to the site, but it is not crucial as there are other ways of getting traffic.

If you decide to run a blog, then yes, it should be updated regularly. But YOU decide how regularly it is updated. You may not have the time to update it multiple times a week, so instead you might decide to update once a week, or even once a month. It’s up to you!

Blogging is just a way of attracting traffic (albeit a good one!). There are other ways such as; SEO, social media, advertising, email marketing, etc.
